Have you come to a fork in the road of the journey called life? Are you feeling stuck and do not know which way to turn? Perhaps you think that the only way to get ahead is to go forward. Dare I ask have you considered taking a road you left behind? Yes, I am referring to the old saying, “sometimes you have to take two steps back to go one step forward.” Why do so many people despise the thought of going backward? It is probably because somewhere in the back of your mind you associate taking two steps backward with a failed attempt at getting ahead. This is NOT true! I know for those of you who have worked so hard, endured every adversity, and overcome obstacles in your way to achieve success, the thought of taking a step or two backward is not an option. Let me say this, whatever you have already accomplished, you have achieved and no one could take that away from you.
Now you are at a crossroad to something new. Consider the next steps whichever way they go. Taking a few steps back might lead you to the road you need to take to get ahead again. Come on, stay with me here. Maybe you overlooked something along the way to success. Maybe you missed a step or took a wrong turn. Maybe you do not even know how you got there because you were not present in the moment. Maybe you should or could have done something differently.
The good news is going back might not be so scary this time, remember you have traveled that road before. This time around may lead to a new perspective on what is truly important to you, what brings you joy, a clean slate to start over, a clear path to added greatness, or a purpose for why you have achieved so much and what you are meant to do that will help others. Remember, even the greatest inventors, designers, believers, have had to start over or go back a time or two on their road to success. I hope you can now see that the road ahead might be behind you.
